About Me

My photo
Without making myself sound too boring, I will say I am married for 34 years and have one married daughter and 3 grandchildren. I work part-time doing independent contract work for retail stores and also work for the Catholic Schools Lunch Program. Enough to keep me in spending money! I belong to several online art groups, the biggest being AAWA. This group has expanded my horizons in mixed media artistry. I enjoy altering items such as cigar boxes, bottles and books to name a few. I like to do collage, iris folding, ATCs, 4x4s, inchies, and plain old card making. I have dabbled with clay, made domino jewelry and glass slide pieces. I don't mind trying new things, but I am a visual person and need to see an example or have hands on guidance. Maybe that's an age thing!

It's been awhile.....

I haven't blogged in awhile. Summer is in full swing around here. Just been too busy to create, write, blog or anything. Cookouts with the neighbors, yardwork and the
baseball boys have moved in and now we are busy going to games. Grandkids got home from PA for the summer so we're busy doing fun stuff with them. BUT, here is a fish
hanglie danglie I did for a mingle on AAWA. We had to have a fish somewhere on the piece. I did a play on words and used a koi fish to represent my coy little Oriental gal....

Another altered art endeavor...

Joined an altered rolodex swap which is another first for me. It will be a very cool set of addies and info on my art friends when I get the whole set of 31 in my hands. I'm thinking of suggesting this in another of my groups so I can add their rolos to my collection. When I finally came up with my idea, I made an original and then had it color photocopied and just embellished each individually. Made the info on the back ( addy, likes, hobbies, etc.) on sticker paper and stuck it on the back of each card. Made 32 of these!

I'm just "moo"ing along....

I've tried my hand at Moo art and these are a few of the ones I did this afternoon. Once you get started on them, they are so quick and easy and fun. You can't do just one!! Anyway, several of these are for a swap in AAWA.

Happy Earth Day!

It's Earth Day and I made this "Blowin' in the wind" ATC for a swap in honor of today. These are wind turbines on a farm in Iowa. Iowa is 3rd in the nation with wind power production. President Obama visited Iowa today to discuss future wind farms. They've taken an old Maytag appliance factory and turned it into a headquarters for wind turbine production. It's a great way to harness mother nature and make good use of it.
Remember to conserve and celebrate the Earth!

My latest endeavor....

is altering spoons!! Two of these are for a swap in my AAWA art group. I found the spoons at a junk store--the older the better. Then I added images in the bowls of the spoons and used a high gloss finish/liquid laminate to fill the bowls with. Then it's just a matter of embellishing them with "extras" on the theme. They are quite fun to do and you can easily become addicted to making these. Let me know what you think!

Happy Easter to all of you!!

I am busy getting ready for dinner at my house with 14-18 people coming!! That means I had to clean the house to make room for them---arrgh! It's supposed to be a gorgeous day so maybe some will go outside! No little ones for an egg hunt anymore though.

It's Mardi Gras Time!!

These are some ATCs that I made to RAK some fellow artists with for Mardi Gras.
Since I made my Arti Gras Mask I was in the mood to make something else in the same theme. I had all these green, purple, and gold embellishments and paper sitting around begging me to make something from them!!!
